Position reports to the Associate Director of Admissions and is instrumental in orchestrating all aspects of the admissions and recruitment process. The Undergraduate Recruiter will be responsible for the substantial recruitment of prospective freshman students to the College through strategic recruitment activities. Actively supports and contributes to achieving recruitment and enrollment goals. The Undergraduate Recruiter provides outstanding customer service to all Morehouse College constituencies including but not limit to inquiring students, families, and guidance counselors. Maintaining ongoing and appropriate communication/follow-up with prospective students, admitted students and the families. Responsible for aggressively managing assigned recruitment territory. Assisting in programmatic efforts and yield forecasting. Admissions counseling, outreach and limited application review are all significant functions of this position. Required Qualifications A minimum of 3-5 years admissions counseling and outreach experience with a progressive experience. Ability to effectively communicate in person and in writing and be able to speak publicly. Should possess high energy, attention to detail, and the ability to organize effectively. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel and work nights and weekends as necessary. Ability to represent the admissions profession positively through a strong, student-centered ethic. Knowledge of computer databases and standard software programs, most notably: Microsoft Office, Ellucian BANNER. Preferred knowledge of SLATE CRM and Argos Reporting. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education/Experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong copywriting and editing skills, with attention to detail. Experience writing for the web and social media. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of constituents, including prospective and current students, parents, faculty, and staff. Experience working effectively in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities. Physical Demands Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time and lift 25 lbs occasionally. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets. Frequent standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods of time is required. Ability to work frequently during evenings and weekends is required. Meet enrollment goals (and other territories as assigned). Represent the College and travel on behalf of the College for recruitment and other college related events. Speak publicly to individuals, groups on and off campus. Develop and maintain close working relationships with key secondary school constituents throughout the state. Responsible for the execution of the recruitment and marketing strategy/plan with the purpose of promoting the College’s visibility and general recruitment efforts. Assist in the execution of communication plan to prospective students, admitted students and their families. Manage ongoing strategic communications and direct mail campaigns. Limited evaluation and execution of admission decisions on applicant files. Develop monthly reports of recruitment activities and monitor statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency. Counsel prospective applicants on the admissions process, College curriculum and opportunities at the College. One-on-one admissions counseling is an important responsibility of this position, primarily by in-person appointments, phone calls and emails. Contribute to the success of various student visit programs designed to recruit targeted prospective applicants to the College. These programs require significant collaboration with the Office of Admissions & Recruitment and other departments, stakeholders and offices across campus. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES as assigned DRIVING REQUIREMENTS: Some driving of up to four hours is required periodically. Use of a personal vehicle is required. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent travel to conferences and recruiting events is required (approximately 30-40% travel). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill responsibilities. Must be able to sit and stand for long periods. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Frequent sitting behind electronic devices for extended periods is required. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position is in an office setting; the person will be in a sedentary position 50% of the time and standing or walking for 50% of the time. Must be able to walk around the campus without limitations, as well as travel. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
