Salary: $130,000 - $145,000

Senior Electrical Estimator

We are seeking an exceptionally qualified Electrical Estimator to join our team of Estimators at LiveWire. This individual will bring extensive expertise in electrical estimating combined with proven capabilities and experience in managing junior to mid-level estimators.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will be highly proficient and possess high level of technical estimating skills, including use of estimating software and the business acumen necessary to drive growth, foster long-term client relationships, and secure complex, high-value projects. This role requires an individual with outstanding negotiation skills, a strong record of business development success, and the ability to enhance client satisfaction while delivering optimal business outcomes. This position reports directly to the Lead Senior Electrical Estimator.

  • Base salary: $130K$145K, commensurate with experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Blueprint & Specification Analysis: Review construction documents to determine the full scope of work, including lighting, power, low voltage and fire alarm systems.
  • Cost Calculation: Meticulously calculate quantities of materials (conduit, wire, fixtures) and labor hours required for installation.
  • Bid Proposal Preparation: Generate detailed proposals, including cost for materials, labor subcontractors, permitting and overhead
  • Supplier/Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain quotes from suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential pitfalls in projects, such as design gaps or challenging site conditions, to include in contingencies.
  • Software Usage: Utilize estimating software (e.g, Accubid, ConEst) to streamline the bidding process.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communicator to effectively support the team and provide clear direction
  • Ability and desire to train and mentor estimators and PM development candidates
  • Team player with ability to collaborate with a wide variety of personnel both internal and external
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines and thrive under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor
  • Expert knowledge of electrical estimating with the ability to anticipate pricing issues and the ability to provide value engineering guidance
  • Thorough knowledge of the electrical industry with general knowledge of mechanical, civil, and other specialty trades
  • Ability to incorporate the Chicago Electrical Code, National Electrical Code, building codes, and OSHA requirements into estimates
  • Desire to build relationships with key stakeholders involved with the estimating process and actively participate in industry, client, and community relations
  • Strong conceptual estimating skills
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and lead initiatives to implement change

Requirements:

  • Computerized estimating experience ConEst preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, expert in Excel
  • Ability to visit jobsites and interact with field personnel
  • Handle physical aspects of job: standing, sitting, lifting up to 25lbs

Education and Experience:

  • BS in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred
  • 10+ years electrical contracting or construction experience
  • 5+ years electrical estimating experience
