Slitter Operator | Slitting, Roll Handling & Quality Inspection (Operate slitting equipment, perform quality inspections, and support high-speed flexible packaging production while maintaining safety and efficiency.)

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL

⏰ Shift: C & D Shift | 5:45 PM – 6:15 AM 12-Hour Continental Schedule

Pay:

  • $21.74/hr
  • +$2.00/hr Night Shift Differential

Role Summary Randstad USA is seeking a Slitter Operator for a direct hire opportunity in Elk Grove Village, IL. This position is responsible for operating slitting and roll handling equipment while ensuring products meet customer specifications for quality, safety, and efficiency. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has strong attention to detail.

️ Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to read rulers and perform basic measurements
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
  • Ability to work a 12-hour continental schedule
Preferred:

  • Manufacturing or production experience
  • Experience operating slitting or converting equipment
  • Forklift or material handling equipment experience
  • Experience with pallet wrapping systems
  • Ability to operate or learn overhead hoist systems
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift
  • Material handling and repetitive production tasks
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment and production noise
  • Required use of PPE and adherence to all food safety and quality procedures

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate slitting, core cutting, and roll wrapping equipment
  • Cut cores to required specifications for production jobs
  • Weigh, label, wrap, and palletize finished rolls
  • Move finished products to designated storage areas
  • Perform quality inspections before, during, and after production runs
  • Review customer specifications to ensure finished products meet requirements
  • Complete final inspections on finished rolls prior to shipment
  • Enter production and quality information into Shop Floor and Quality systems
  • Communicate production status and machine conditions during shift handoffs
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities
  • Report equipment issues and submit maintenance work orders as needed
  • Follow GMPs, SOPs, 5S, food safety, and allergen control procedures
  • Report safety concerns, quality issues, and production problems immediately
  • Provide break relief for other Slitter Operators
  • Support other production areas as needed
  • Participate in continuous improvement and Global Performance System (GPS) initiatives

The essential functions of this role include:
