Job Description

Job Title: Senior Electrical Estimator Location: Robbinsville, NJ Base Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 per year Job Type: Full-Time About Us: Founded in 1989 and proudly operating from our 5,200-square-foot facility in New Jersey, we have built a multi-decade legacy of excellence in the commercial, industrial, and public works sectors. As a Certified New Jersey Small Business and Public Works Contractor, we pride ourselves on delivering premium quality work using a fully self-sustaining, in-house workforce. We successfully manage a wide portfolio of high-profile projects—from complex federal government and airfield contracts to utility construction and renewable energy initiatives—valued up to and in excess of $5M. Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Electrical Estimator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive electrical estimates for a variety of complex projects, with a strong focus on federal, municipal, and public works contracts. Utilizing Trimble Accubid, you will analyze blueprints, specifications, and proposal requirements to ensure our company continues to win and successfully deliver top-of-the-line electrical projects. Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurate Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and government projects (up to $5M+) using Accubid software.
  • Government Bid Management: Lead the estimation process for federal, state, and municipal government projects, ensuring strict adherence to complex public works bidding requirements, FARs, and prevailing wage stipulations.
  • Blueprint & Spec Analysis: Review and interpret complex electrical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and material/labor requirements.
  • Takeoffs: Perform accurate and thorough electrical takeoffs, evaluating both underground and structural electrical needs, service and repair parameters, and complex infrastructure (e.g., airfields, utilities).
  • Vendor & Supplier Negotiation: Solicit pricing from vendors, suppliers, and specialty contractors to secure the most competitive and reliable materials and equipment costs.
  • Project Hand-off: Collaborate closely with the management team and field superintendents to transition awarded projects from the estimating phase to construction, ensuring our 100% self-performing workforce is set up for success.
  • Site Visits: Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site walk-throughs to assess existing conditions and identify potential risks or hidden costs. Required Qualifications:
  • Experience: 10+ years of professional electrical estimating experience within the commercial, industrial, and public works sectors.
  • Government Expertise (Mandatory): Proven track record of successfully estimating and winning government/public works projects (federal, state, municipal, or airfield). Deep understanding of government bidding procedures, compliance, and public works protocols.
  • Software Proficiency (Mandatory): Highly proficient in Accubid estimating software.
  • Electrical Background: Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, National Electrical Code (NEC), and construction materials/methods. Previous field experience as an electrician is a highly valued plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, mathematical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and government contracting officers. Compensation & Benefits:
  • Base Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
  • Opportunity to work with a dedicated, family-rooted business that values quality over mediocrity.
  • Comprehensive benefits package (Healthcare, PTO, Retirement matching).
