Job Description

IEP Therapy is seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team supporting students in school settings. As a COTA with IEP Therapy, you will play a key role in helping children access their education by implementing occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. You will work directly with students who have a variety of needs, focusing on fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, sensory processing, self-care skills, and classroom participation so they can better engage in their daily school routines. In this role, you will support the assessment process by gathering data, observing student performance, and documenting functional abilities in the classroom, therapy room, and other school environments. You will carry out individualized treatment plans designed by the supervising Occupational Therapist, using evidence-based strategies and creative, student-centered activities that align with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). You will help adapt tasks, materials, and the physical environment to promote student independence, safety, and participation across a full school day. Collaboration is central to this position. You will partner with occupational therapists, special education teachers, classroom teachers, related service providers, and school staff to integrate therapeutic strategies into everyday routines. You may contribute insights in IEP meetings or team conferences, communicate regularly with teachers and families about student progress, and provide practical recommendations that can be used both in the classroom and at home. Clear, accurate documentation of treatment sessions, progress notes, and student outcomes will be an essential part of your daily work, ensuring compliance with school, district, and regulatory standards.
